New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Le Minh Hung, Prime Minister of Vietnam, on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in New Delhi.
The two leaders reviewed the progress achieved in India-Vietnam bilateral relations and discussed ways to further deepen cooperation across key areas. The meeting follows the elevation of ties to an Enhanced Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during the State Visit of To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, to India in May 2026.
Prime Minister Modi and Prime Minister Le Minh Hung also exchanged views on a range of regional and global developments of mutual importance. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the India-Vietnam partnership and expanding cooperation on shared strategic priorities.
India and Vietnam share close historical, civilisational and cultural ties, with their relationship having developed into a broad-based partnership covering trade and investment, defence and security, maritime cooperation, digital technology, connectivity, education and people-to-people exchanges.
The two countries also share common interests in maintaining a free, open, inclusive and rules-based Indo-Pacific, with ASEAN central to the regional architecture. Vietnam remains an important partner for India under its Act East Policy.
The meeting on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit is expected to provide further momentum to the Enhanced Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and reinforce cooperation between India and Vietnam at both bilateral and multilateral platforms.
