New Delhi: India and the United Kingdom have further advanced their defence partnership with the 25th Defence Consultative Group (DCG) Meeting, held in New Delhi to review ongoing cooperation and identify new areas of collaboration.
The meeting was co-chaired by Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh and the UK’s Permanent Under Secretary for Defence, Jeremy Pocklington. Discussions covered a broad range of bilateral defence and security issues, with particular emphasis on cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.
A key area of discussion was maritime security, including collaboration through the Regional Maritime Security Centre of Excellence (RMSCE) under the Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiative (IPOI). Both sides discussed ways to strengthen information-sharing and cooperation aimed at contributing to a secure and stable maritime environment.
The two countries also reviewed the progress of the India-UK Vision 2035 and the 10-Year Defence Industrial Roadmap, with particular attention to opportunities in defence research and development, technology and industrial collaboration.
India and the UK agreed to further expand military-to-military engagement through joint exercises, training programmes and capacity-building initiatives.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to promoting peace, stability and security in the region, while recognising the importance of strategic autonomy.
The latest DCG meeting reflects the expanding scope of the India-UK strategic partnership, with defence cooperation increasingly encompassing maritime security, advanced technology, research, industrial collaboration and military engagement.
