Gurugram, April 8: The active participation of citizens is vital for the success of Census 2027, stated District Commissioner (DC) Ajay Kumar today. Emphasizing the importance of involving every household, he directed officials to widely disseminate information about the upcoming self-enumeration facility, ensuring that residents across all villages and wards can personally record their details.
DC Ajay Kumar announced that an online portal for self-enumeration will be launched on April 16, 2026, allowing citizens to register and submit their own census information. “For the first time, the census will be conducted entirely digitally,” he noted. After submission, each participant will receive a unique Self-Enumeration ID via SMS and email. Census enumerators will then visit homes only to verify the submitted data, reducing the need for multiple physical visits.
The census will be carried out in two main phases:
- Phase 1 – House Listing: May 1 to May 30, 2026
- Phase 2 – Population Enumeration: February 9 to February 28, 2027
In addition, citizens can avail of the self-enumeration option from April 16 to April 30, 2026, by visiting the official portal at www.se.census.gov.in. Participants must enter their mobile number to receive an OTP (One-Time Password), which will allow them to log in and fill in their details.
Ajay Kumar also highlighted the use of modern technology in this census. A special mobile application has been developed for enumerators, which functions offline and automatically synchronizes data once a network connection is available. This innovation will ensure smooth operations, even in remote and connectivity-challenged areas.
He appealed to all citizens to provide accurate and complete information, stressing that doing so is a legal requirement.
Regarding the preparatory work, DC Ajay Kumar informed that training for enumerators and supervisors had begun on April 6. Between April 6 and April 8, 28 training batches were conducted.
Additional sessions are scheduled on April 9–11, April 15–17, and April 20–22, ensuring that all personnel are fully prepared for the census operations.
Furthermore, he expressed concern over certain Heads of Departments who have yet to submit their updated staff lists. He issued strict directives, instructing them to provide the required information immediately to avoid any disruption in census activities.
The event was attended by several senior officials, including SDM Hitendra Kumar, SDM Badshahpur Sanjeev Singla, SDM Pataudi Dinesh Luhach, SDM Sohna Akhilesh, DRO Vijay Yadav, Assistant Director Gurvinder Pal Singh, and District Nodal Officer Devesh Bansal.
DC Ajay Kumar concluded by reiterating the need for active public participation, describing it as the key to ensuring a smooth, efficient, and accurate Census 2027 in Gurugram.
