New Delhi : Saeed Abbas Araqchi, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, issued a statement via social media on behalf of the country’s Supreme National Security Council.

In his message, he expressed gratitude to Pakistan’s leadership, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir, for their continued efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region.

Araqchi stated that, in response to Prime Minister Sharif’s call for peace, as well as proposals put forward by the United States and Iran, Tehran is prepared to take conditional steps toward reducing hostilities. He noted that if attacks against Iran come to an end, the country’s armed forces will suspend their defensive operations.

He further announced that, for a period of two weeks, and in full coordination with Iranian military authorities, Iran would allow safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz, provided all technical and security conditions are strictly observed.
