Chandigarh : The statewide campaign “Operation Track-Down” being carried out by Haryana Police continues to achieve unprecedented success. The mission—aimed at nabbing wanted, absconding, rewarded, and habitual offenders involved in serious crimes, thereby strengthening law and order in the state—is being executed with full intensity and strictness.
As of 12 November 2025, the police arrested 59 notorious criminals in a single day and sent them to jail. Additionally, history-sheets of 22 hardcore and habitual offenders were opened, ensuring continuous surveillance on them. In heinous crimes—murder, attempt to murder and extortion—33 accused were apprehended, while 287 criminals involved in other offences were taken into custody.
Since the beginning of the campaign, 378 notorious/interstate criminals have been sent to jail, and arrests in other offences have reached 1918. These arrests under this operation reflects Haryana Police’s commitment to creating a crime-free state.

Extortionist Raman, a ₹5,000 Rewarded Accused, Arrested — Wanted in 14 Cases
Under “Operation Track-Down,” Kurukshetra Police achieved a major breakthrough by arresting Raman of Umri, a ₹5,000 rewarded accused who had demanded extortion of ₹20–50 lakh and threatened to kill a shopkeeper.
According to the complainant, on 22 May 2025, he received a call first from an unknown number and then from an international WhatsApp number, during which he was threatened and asked to pay a large extortion amount. Considering the seriousness of the matter, the investigation was handed over to CIA-2, which had already arrested Deepak, Mohit Saini, and Rahul, recovering two pistols, two cartridges, and a motorcycle from them.
Accused Raman had around 14 serious cases registered against him in Kurukshetra and Karnal. He had jumped bail in several cases and was absconding. Acting swiftly, the team led by Inspector Mohan Lal and Sub-Inspector Randhir Singh arrested him on 13 November 2025.

Gagandeep alias Thapa Arrested With Illegal Firearm — Crackdown on Violent Activities
Continuing its action under the same campaign, Kurukshetra Police also arrested Gagandeep alias Thapa, who was found in possession of an illegal weapon. Acting on a secret tip-off, the team of ASI Praveen Kumar conducted an immediate raid and apprehended the accused near Bazigar Dharamshala.
A country-made pistol and one live cartridge were recovered from his possession. The accused has seven cases registered against him in different police stations of Kurukshetra, including theft, assault, and attempt to murder. He had also served 10 years of imprisonment in an earlier case.

Rising Public Confidence — A Heavy Blow to Criminal Networks
The objective of “Operation Track-Down” under the direct supervision DGP Haryana Sh. OP Singh is to uproot crime and its networks from the state. Continuous arrests of notorious and rewarded offenders have not only weakened criminal networks but also strengthened the sense of safety and confidence among the public.
The arrest of offenders carrying illegal weapons, demanding extortion, and indulging in violent activities has provided relief to traders and citizens. This operation sends out a clear message that no person breaking the law will be spared in Haryana, and the police force is fully committed to taking the strictest action against criminals.
