New Delhi/LUMUT, MALAYSIA : Indian Navy warship INS Mysore arrived at Lumut, Malaysia, on September 9 as part of the Indian Navy’s operational deployment to participate in the 4th edition of the bilateral maritime exercise ‘Samudra Laksamana’ with the Royal Malaysian Navy.

The ship and its crew received a warm welcome from personnel of the Royal Malaysian Navy and officials from the High Commission of India in Malaysia.

Exercise Samudra Laksamana features a range of professional engagements both in harbour and at sea, including cross-deck visits, operational interactions and sporting activities. The engagements are aimed at facilitating the exchange of professional experiences, enhancing interoperability and promoting greater mutual understanding between the two navies.

The visit builds on the growing momentum in India-Malaysia defence and maritime cooperation, including the 12th India-Malaysia Sub Committee Meeting held on July 1, 2026. It underscores the strong and enduring maritime partnership between the two countries and reflects the expanding scope of cooperation between the Indian Navy and the Royal Malaysian Navy.

The deployment is expected to further strengthen professional exchanges and deepen maritime cooperation between India and Malaysia. It is also aligned with the Government of India’s vision of MAHASAGAR and the ASEAN–India Year of Maritime Cooperation 2026.
