New Delhi : The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has called upon employers and establishments to take advantage of the Employees’ Enrolment Campaign (EEC) 2026, a one-time initiative aimed at bringing eligible workers who remained outside the EPF system within the formal social security framework.
The campaign, which came into effect on June 29, 2026, will remain open until October 31, 2026. It covers eligible employees who were not enrolled under EPF between April 1, 2009 and March 31, 2026, subject to the conditions prescribed under the scheme.
Under the initiative, eligible establishments can voluntarily declare and enrol workers who were left out of EPF coverage during the specified period, provided such employees are alive and continue to be employed with the establishment on the date of declaration.
The campaign also offers certain relaxations to help employers regularise past compliance. Among the provisions is a waiver of the employee’s share of contribution in cases where it was not deducted earlier, subject to the applicable conditions of EEC 2026.
Employers participating in the campaign are required to complete the enrolment and contribution process through the prescribed online system. A Universal Account Number (UAN) based on Face Authentication is required to be generated for each declared employee through the UMANG App, following which the applicable contributions are to be deposited through the Electronic Challan-cum-Return (ECR) mechanism.
EPFO said the initiative is intended to provide both employers and workers with a structured route for addressing past gaps in EPF coverage and extending statutory social security benefits, including provident fund, pension and insurance coverage, to eligible employees.
Employers have been advised to examine their employment and wage records and identify workers who may have remained outside EPF coverage during the specified period.
To increase awareness about the campaign, EPFO is conducting outreach programmes targeting employers, employees, establishments, contractors and other stakeholders. Government ministries and departments, State Governments and Union Territories, Public Sector Undertakings, autonomous bodies and other organisations have also been encouraged to help spread information about EEC 2026 among establishments and service providers under their respective administrative jurisdictions.
EPFO has urged eligible establishments to use the one-time opportunity and complete the enrolment process before the campaign deadline of October 31, 2026.
