New Delhi : Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Saturday. The Prime Minister’s Office shared information about the meeting in a post on X, confirming that the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir had called on the Prime Minister. No official details of the discussions were disclosed.
The meeting assumes significance as it comes nearly a week after US Ambassador to India Sergio Gore’s visit to Jammu and Kashmir. During his visit, the US Ambassador held an extensive meeting with Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and also visited Srinagar and several tourist destinations in the Union Territory.
Gore had described Jammu and Kashmir as an important part of India and later shared a detailed video highlighting his visit to Srinagar and other prominent tourist locations.
While there has been no official confirmation regarding the issues discussed between the Lieutenant Governor and the Prime Minister, it is understood that the recent visit of the US Ambassador and developments related to Jammu and Kashmir may have figured in the meeting. The Lieutenant Governor is also understood to have briefed the Prime Minister on the US envoy’s recent visit to the Union Territory.
