New Delhi: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, and several Members of Parliament from opposition parties staged a protest in the Parliament premises on Friday over allegations related to the alleged misappropriation of donations collected for the Ayodhya Ram Mandir and the lathi charge on students during recent protests.
The demonstration was held under the slogan “Offerings Thief – Abandon the Gaddi”, with opposition leaders accusing the government of failing to address issues related to the alleged misuse of temple donations while also criticizing the police action against students.
As part of the protest, opposition MPs organized a symbolic street play inside the Parliament premises. The performance was intended to highlight their allegations regarding the alleged “theft of offerings” and to draw attention to what they described as a lack of accountability.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, who is also the Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi participated in the demonstration along with other opposition MPs.
During the symbolic performance, Independent MP Pappu Yadav appeared dressed as a priest and carried a donation box. Rahul Gandhi was seen placing money into the donation box as part of the enactment, while the priest was also shown touching the feet of the Ayodhya Member of Parliament in a dramatized sequence.
The skit concluded with Pappu Yadav, still dressed as the priest, running away with the donation box, symbolically portraying the opposition’s allegation of misappropriation of donations collected for the Ram Mandir.
Through the protest, the opposition sought to highlight its allegations regarding the handling of Ram Mandir donations and to raise concerns over the recent lathi charge on students. The demonstration was held within the Parliament premises and formed part of the opposition’s continuing protests during the ongoing Parliament session.
Note: The allegations raised during the protest are political claims made by the opposition. They have not been independently verified, and the government or the concerned authorities may have a different position on the matter.
