New Delhi : The Indian Air Force successfully supported the second Integrated Air Drop Test of the crew module under the Gaganyaan Mission, marking another significant milestone for Indian Space Research Organisation in its ambitious human spaceflight programme. The test was carried out using a Boeing CH-47 Chinook helicopter of the Indian Air Force, during which the crew module was air-dropped to validate its parachute-based deceleration system. The successful trial demonstrated the system’s capability to ensure a safe descent and recovery, which is critical for future human spaceflight missions.
The operation highlighted seamless coordination and jointmanship among key national agencies, including the Indian Air Force, Indian Navy, Indian Space Research Organisation, and Defence Research and Development Organisation. The achievement underscores India’s growing capabilities in advanced space technologies and its steady progress towards realizing the Gaganyaan mission.
