Lt Gen Shamsher Singh Virk Assumes Appointment as Deputy Chief of Army Staff (Capability Development & Sustenance)

New Delhi: Lieutenant General Shamsher Singh Virk has assumed the appointment of Deputy Chief of Army Staff (Capability Development & Sustenance) [DCOAS (CD&S)] in the Indian Army.

Prior to taking charge of the key appointment, Lt Gen Virk was serving as a Corps Commander along the Western Front, where he was responsible for operational command and preparedness in the strategically significant sector.

In his new role, Lt Gen Virk will oversee the Indian Army’s initiatives related to capability development and sustenance, with a focus on strengthening operational preparedness and ensuring that the force remains equipped to meet evolving security requirements.

The appointment comes at a time when the Indian Army is pursuing greater modernisation, technology integration, indigenisation and capability enhancement across its operational and support structures.
