The honorary rank was conferred in accordance with the unique and longstanding tradition between the Indian and Nepali Armies. The honour reaffirmed the deep-rooted and enduring bonds between the two armed forces and the close friendship between India and Nepal.
During his visit, General Dhiraj Seth paid tribute to fallen soldiers by laying a wreath at Tundikhel and reviewed a Ceremonial Guard of Honour at the Nepali Army Headquarters.
The COAS also called on General Ashok Raj Sigdel, Chief of the Army Staff of the Nepali Army and Honorary General of the Indian Army. The two military chiefs discussed matters of mutual interest and explored avenues to further strengthen bilateral defence cooperation.
General Dhiraj Seth was also briefed by the Director General of Military Operations (DGMO), Nepali Army, and held discussions with senior military leadership on ways to enhance military-to-military ties between the two countries.
As a gesture of the enduring friendship between the two Armies, General Seth planted a sapling and presented defence equipment to the Nepali Army.
The visit and the conferring of the honorary rank underscore the longstanding defence partnership, mutual trust and close military ties between India and Nepal, as well as the shared commitment of the two countries to peace, stability and security.
