New Delhi : The Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff (HQ IDS) commemorated its Silver Jubilee, marking 25 years of dedicated service towards strengthening jointness, integration and synergy among India’s three Armed Forces.
The milestone was marked by a special programme titled “Trishakti Manthan”, which brought together serving and former senior military leadership to reflect on the evolution of HQ IDS and the future of India’s integrated defence architecture.
The event featured addresses by Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General NS Raja Subramani and Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (CISC) Air Marshal Tejinder Singh. Their addresses highlighted the continuing importance of greater coordination, integration and joint operational capabilities among the Army, Navy and Air Force.
Silver Jubilee Book and Film Released
As part of the celebrations, a Silver Jubilee Book documenting the evolution, achievements and major milestones of HQ IDS over the past 25 years was released.
A special film showcasing key milestones since the raising of HQ IDS was also screened during the programme, highlighting its contribution to India’s journey towards a more integrated and coordinated defence structure.
Strengthening Jointness and Integration
HQ IDS was established to provide an institutional framework for bringing greater integration and synergy among the Armed Forces, particularly in areas involving joint planning, capability development, operational coordination and strategic decision-making.
Over the years, the organisation has played an important role in advancing the concept of jointness, which seeks to enable the three Services to operate with greater coordination while reducing duplication and improving the utilisation of defence resources.
The Silver Jubilee celebrations therefore provided an opportunity to look back at the organisation’s institutional journey while also focusing on the requirements of a future-ready Integrated Defence Force.
Former Military Leadership Joins Celebrations
General Anil Chauhan (Retd), former CDS, along with several former Chiefs of Integrated Defence Staff (CISC) and senior officers from the three Services, attended the event.
Their presence brought together different generations of military leadership and provided an opportunity to acknowledge the contribution of personnel who have been associated with HQ IDS since its establishment.
The 25th anniversary marks an important milestone in the evolution of India’s defence integration framework and reinforces HQ IDS’s continuing role in promoting jointness, interoperability, synergy and preparedness for emerging security challenges.
