New Delhi : The Ministry of Panchayati Raj has invited citizens, organisations, philanthropic institutions, CSR partners and members of the Indian diaspora to participate in DAANVEER, a computer crowdsourcing initiative aimed at strengthening digital infrastructure in Gram Panchayats.
The people-led initiative enables individuals and organisations to donate desktop computers directly to Gram Panchayats that have been verified by their respective state governments as requiring such equipment. It is intended to supplement digital infrastructure support provided through government programmes, including the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA).
Donation Process
Through the Meri Panchayat App, donors can view eligible Gram Panchayats and choose to support either their own village panchayat or another participating panchayat.
After selecting the “Donate Computer” option, donors are redirected to DigiHaat, an ONDC-enabled digital marketplace, without requiring separate registration. The selected panchayat’s delivery address and recipient details are automatically populated on the platform.
Donors can select from standardised computer bundles that meet prescribed technical specifications, complete the payment digitally and track the order through various stages, including confirmation, dispatch, delivery and acknowledgement.
Once the Gram Panchayat Secretary acknowledges receipt of the computer, the donor receives a digitally generated Certificate of Appreciation.
Supporting Digital Governance
The ministry said computers donated through DAANVEER could help Gram Panchayats use digital platforms for planning, financial management, record-keeping and the delivery of citizen services.
The initiative also allows donors to monitor the status of their contributions and view the progress of donations made to Gram Panchayats. According to the ministry, this provides citizens living away from their native villages—including members of the Indian diaspora—with a transparent avenue to contribute to grassroots digital infrastructure.
Philanthropic organisations and CSR partners can also use the initiative to support the digital strengthening of local institutions.
As more states add eligible Gram Panchayats to the platform, the ministry said DAANVEER could develop into a nationwide movement for digitally empowered Panchayats. As of August 27, 2026, 75 donations had already been made through the initiative.
The Ministry of Panchayati Raj has encouraged members of the public and organisations to participate in DAANVEER and contribute to improved digital governance and service delivery at the grassroots level.
