He said every eligible citizen must be registered in the electoral roll with accurate and updated information to strengthen the democratic process. Citizens can apply to have their names included in the voter list, seek the deletion of ineligible entries, or get incorrect details rectified through the prescribed forms.
According to the Deputy Commissioner, citizens who have attained the age of 18 years but whose names are not yet included in the electoral roll can submit Form 6 for new registration. Form 7 can be used for the deletion of a name in cases such as a change of residence, death or duplicate entry. Similarly, corrections relating to a voter’s name, age, address, photograph or other particulars can be requested through Form 8.
Applicants will be required to submit the necessary documents and declarations along with the prescribed forms. Applications can be submitted online through the Election Commission’s voter services portal or in person at the office of the concerned Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) or Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO).
Uttam Singh said special campaign days have been scheduled on August 22-23 and August 29-30 under SIR-2026 to facilitate citizens in filing claims and objections related to the electoral rolls. He urged eligible residents to make full use of these special campaign days.
The last date for submitting claims and objections is August 30, 2026. The District Election Officer appealed to citizens not to wait until the last moment and to verify their electoral details in time.
Making a special appeal to young citizens, Uttam Singh said those who had attained the age of 18 years by July 1, 2026, but have not yet registered as voters, should submit Form 6 and ensure their inclusion in the electoral roll.
He said young people are among the most important pillars of democracy and should actively exercise their responsibility by registering themselves as voters. Citizens can contact the Voter Helpline at 1950 for further information regarding the electoral rolls and voter registration.
